There have been rumors about tickets being issued by the DNR to a couple of ice riders. I called Dean Johnson local DNR manager and asked if there were any specific restictions on lake Zumbro.
1. All ohm must be registered.
2.You may not exceed 10 mph on the frozen surface of public waters within 100 feet of a person fishing or a fish house or other shelter.
3.Sound levels for OHMs manufactured after 1986 may not exceed 96 decibels
when operated on public lands.
4. There may be additional ordinaces levied by local sheriff dept. No restrictions on DNR web site other wake restictions

I canot find any thing that would not allow us to ride out there. There could be an issue with a local officer considering our riding as "reckless driving" although this would be very subjective and worth fighting if in fact that was the case. We are bound essentially by the same rules we deal with all the time.
Bottom line...
Be quiet
Be registered |

Thanks for checking into that Greg.
Like you said, If our bikes are quiet, and registered, there shouldn't be any legal problems. _________________ Thomas Early |
